Little Goose Fire

I think I am boring everyone on my fire posts, so this will be the last one unless my own house ever burns down.





Above is a map of the area. The fire is in the area outlined in red. Below that is a photo of some of the area the fire burned up.

The fire is holding steady at around 4800 acres. A backfire was supposed to be done today to burn some 150 acres to protect property in case the fire flares up and gets nasty again. It is still only 45% contained. It is expected to be fully contained in another four days. 326 firefighters are on the scene. Thirteen structures have been lost and the cost of fighting this fire is estimated to be 1.4 million dollars.

Now there are TWO additional fires in the Bighorn Mountains. The Bone Creek fire is 500 acres and is 33 miles northeast of Greybull. There is also the Garland Gulch fire which just started and has only burned 5 to 10 acres. It is 7 miles northwest of Burgess Junction.
